Finding State of The Art Wound Care

With the explosion of diabetes and the aging population, a new field of medicine has developed in recent years. The care of chronic wounds has become an important area of study (although not yet a popular topic of dinner conversation). Because of its recent development, many healthcare providers find themselves thrown into the field, shouldered with the responsibility of caring for an individual who has a chronic wound.

Many of the treatments in years past were found to be ineffective and sometimes harmful. This led to extensive research into the care of these challenging lesions, which has been extensive. Advances are made almost daily. The progress made over the last decade has allowed us to heal wounds, and therefore save limbs, previously thought unsalvageable.

Unfortunately, out in the real world, a tremendous amount of outdated and ineffective wound care is still practiced. Partially because many healthcare providers are not educated on best practices. If you or a loved one suffers from one of these, how do you know if you are receiving adequate care?

At Advanced Wound Associates, state of the art mobile wound care is our standard. Along with a physician specializing in the treatment of non-healing ulcers, their staff of highly trained professionals are up on the latest and greatest. Ineffective methods of wound care continue to be practiced by too many. But at AWA, our knowledge of the current standards, the most effective practices, allow us to provide the “best practices,” the methods leading to the optimal outcome, the fastest healing.
